Trained at Southampton Polytech. Took PMG 2nd class in 1959 and did first trip with Marconi's. After two years did 1st class PMG again at Southampton. Did MOT radar in 1964 then joined shore staff. Helped compile handbook for Raymarc at Head Office. Left in 1965 and worked in industry until emigrating to NZ in 1972. Worked at Awarua/ZLB and Chatham Islands/ZLC before going on two year secondment to PNG. Worked at Rabaul P2R and Moresby/P2M before returning to NZ. Took severance in 1987 to start own business.
