Dear ROA Members, let me introduce myself:
My name is Antonello Urbani, I am a radio amateur, my call sign is: IK0PHU.
I live in Civitavecchia, 50 km from Rome, I am a technical director and I work for a large world company.
I am 53 years old.
It is with great pride and humility that the undersigned is part of the ROA / ROARS.
As already explained to President Tony and Secretary John, I unfortunately cannot claim to be a radio officer.
However, since 1970, as SWL, I listened to the traffic list and the various warnings to sailors, carried out by IAR, RomaRadio, the most important Coastal Station in Italy. But not only that, I could also listen with pleasure to other Stations including your GKA.
In 1990, after passing the exams of Radiotechnics and Telegraphy, my call sign finally arrived: IK0PHU.
From that date on, I have always used CW for all QSOs, always trying to maintain a maritime setting, the one of which, I can now declare, is my only great passion for radio.
Later, after meeting Italian radio officers, we formed a group called MORSE: Maritime Operators Radiotelegraphy Service.
This group wants to maintain the maritime tradition, trying not to overlook what for over 100 years, radio officers have practiced by profession.

Dear friends, seeing the ROA members, I realize that I am the only Italian to be part, hi hi … Sorry for the bad joke, I feel a bit like the young Guglielmo Marconi, driven from Italy and appreciated in the UK.
Unfortunately, I don’t find anything in me that can resemble the great Marconi.
